The Irish golfer of the year is back and ready to kick some butt in the 2018 PGA Tour season.
The winner of the 2018 U.S. Open and the PyeongChang International Golf Championship is returning to play his final PGA Championship event on Friday.
The event will be held in front of a sold-out crowd at the Chicago Club Golf Club, with the winner earning a $250,000 prize purse.
Golf legend Rory McIlroy is in the final year of his contract with the United States Open and will not be attending this year’s event.
It will be his final outing as a PGA champion.
McIlroy will be one of the most recognizable players in golf history and his retirement announcement was met with much fanfare.
But what will he have to do to earn that prize purse?
The PGA of America says he’ll have to finish the year in the top-15 of the FedExCup standings to receive the money.
McLaren, who was runner-up to McIloy in 2018, will be competing in his second PGA title in three years.
He won in 2015.
The Pyeongs Golf Club is the new PGA Park and it’s in the heart of the Chicago area.
The club has been serving as the venue for some of the best PGA golf tournaments in the country, including the Paddy Power Championship.
The 2018 Pyeons will host the P-5 Tour Championship and will feature a new course and equipment.
The U.K. Open will be played at the Oulton Park course in South Wales, and the 18th Ryder Cup is slated to be held there in 2021.
