NEW YORK (AP) For the first time, the cover of the popular magazine Vanity Fair magazine is being redesigned.
The redesign was prompted by a request from a friend of the magazine’s senior creative director, who told the magazine to change its logo.
Vanity Fair will still have a traditional “V” logo, but the redesigned logo will include a diamond in the middle, the magazine said.
The magazine said in a statement that the redesign was not an endorsement.
“Vanity Fair is dedicated to telling the real stories of women and men across the country,” it said.
“The new logo will tell a broader story of the beauty of women in America.”
The magazine has previously been criticized for its portrayal of women as passive, while men have often been depicted as dominant.
